Welcome back to our third edition of The Perch, and the final one of this school year, which winds down in two short weeks! It’s been a busy, exciting spring.
In Early March, Brilla launched the Bronx Educated Campaign to highlight and celebrate its strong partnerships with the Mott Haven Community and a few of its locally-founded businesses. Our goal is to share Brilla’s culture of caring and hope to our community, and to those touched or shaped by the Bronx. We ask that you support the campaign and the local entrepreneurs who so generously support our work by following our partners on social media (#Bronx Educated) and by visiting Empanology, Mottley Kitchen and Bronx Native, where you can find our specially designed empanada’s, shirts and cookies.

We were thrilled and proud to receive an award last week for Brilla’s outstanding work with our students and our community. Brilla was one of only three charter schools chosen to receive this award, called The Proclamation, at a dinner in the beautiful New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx. Ritchie Torres, 15th District Council Member, presented the Proclamation to our Network Director of Operations, Reyes Claudio, who has worked tirelessly to create authentic bonds between our schools and the south Bronx community.
Two weeks ago, we honored five Brilla employees for their 5-year commitment to working at Brilla. These employees have helped make Brilla what it is today and we are so thankful of their long-term commitment to our school and to the Bronx community.

Our 2019-20 school year lottery went smoothly in early April. We look forward to welcoming nearly 200 new students this upcoming school year. We have a small handful of kindergarten spots still available at Brilla Veritas. If you know of interested families, please let us know!
We wish you a joyful and restful summer holiday and look forward to reconnecting in September!
Warm regards,
