Dear Brilla Families, Friends, and Staff,
Our school communities are together again, with scholars stepping into new challenges and educators beginning another year of learning alongside them. For Brilla, this moment carries even greater significance as we enter our 14th year.
Brilla began with a clear mission: to help young people become good people and flourish in high school, college, and beyond. Our network has grown since then, but that purpose remains at the heart of who we are and how we serve our scholars and families.
As we begin this next chapter, I am grateful for several moments from this past year that reflect both how far we have come and what we continue to build together.
This spring, we celebrated three eighth-grade graduating classes. Brilla College Prep Middle School marked its sixth graduating class, while Brilla Veritas Middle School and Brilla Pax Middle School celebrated their first. Each ceremony reflected what we want every scholar to experience at Brilla: to be known, supported, challenged, and valued.

That sense of belonging extended beyond graduation. This summer, we welcomed members of Brilla’s Class of 2022 back for our Alumni Send-Off as they prepared for college, careers, and new opportunities. Seeing our alumni return reinforces that our responsibility to young people extends well beyond the years they spend in our classrooms.
Our message to them was simple: You belong.
You belong in the classrooms, workplaces, internships, and leadership opportunities where your talents can make a difference. Their next steps also reflect the families, educators, mentors, and communities who have invested in them along the way.

Summer at Brilla also meant continued learning. Through our expanded Brilla Solis Summer Program, more scholars had opportunities to strengthen their academic skills while exploring art, music, STEM, movement, field trips, and new experiences. Just as important, scholars built relationships across our schools and returned ready to take on the year ahead. I am grateful to the educators and staff who made that experience possible.
And now, we are back.
As we begin year 14, our focus is not simply on doing more. It is on getting better at what matters most. Our priorities, Wisdom Accelerated, Empowerment Is Our Standard, and Love Centers Our Community, continue to guide how we strengthen instruction, develop our people, and build schools where every scholar can flourish.
None of this work happens through schools alone. Families, staff, community partners, donors, vendors, and friends each play a role in creating the conditions our scholars need to succeed. That collective commitment is one of Brilla’s greatest strengths.

We will have an opportunity to celebrate that spirit together at our 2026 Community Celebration on September 26. It is one of my favorite Brilla traditions because it brings us together beyond the school day, not for a meeting or an agenda, but simply to enjoy the community we have built. With food, music, games, children’s activities, local resources, and opportunities to connect, the day is ultimately about celebrating the people who make Brilla what it is. I hope you will join us.
To our scholars, welcome back. We are ready to see you learn, take on new challenges, and discover what you are capable of.
To our families, thank you for your trust and partnership. To our staff, thank you for the care and preparation you bring to this work. And to our partners, donors, vendors, and friends, thank you for continuing to invest in our scholars and schools.
Fourteen years in, our mission remains clear, our community continues to grow, and there is much more ahead of us.
Here’s to year 14.
With care,
Yeime Valle
Executive Director, Brilla Schools
