Celebrating Brilla’s Progress: Key Insights from Our New York State Exam Data and the State of Schools

As Brilla Schools continues to lead with excellence, we are proud to share the results from the New York State Exams and provide key insights on the state of our schools. Our data highlights some strong achievements while also underscoring areas that require ongoing focus. Let’s take a closer look at how Brilla Schools is advancing in academic performance, attendance, and retention—and why these efforts matter to our community.

New York State Exam Results: A Snapshot of Success

Brilla has made significant strides in student performance, particularly in math. For the first time in four years, Brilla’s math proficiency surpassed the state average, showing a remarkable 55% proficiency. In literacy, our performance held steady at 45%, even as state and city averages declined by 2.5%. Notably, Brilla’s multilingual Learners demonstrated exceptional growth, outperforming all comparison groups in both math and ELA.

However, challenges still remain. The achievement gap for students with disabilities persists, and we recognize the need for continued interventions, particularly in literacy. Our goal for the future is clear: to accelerate progress in both math and literacy, ensuring that all students continue to thrive.

Attendance and Retention: Foundation of Academic Excellence

Brilla Schools’ focus on student attendance remains a top priority. As we know, consistent attendance is a critical factor in student success. While our schools started the year strong with improved attendance, there has been a slight decline in the latter part of the term. To address this, we are emphasizing the importance of regular school attendance and reinforcing the connection between presence and academic achievement. Our goal is a 95% attendance rate across all schools, and we are committed to supporting families in ensuring their children attend school consistently.

Retention also plays a pivotal role in our academic outcomes. A student’s continued enrollment in Brilla allows them to benefit from the consistency and support that our educators and programs provide. We are proud to report an increase in our intent-to-return rates for the 2024-2025 school year, but we are not stopping there. Our efforts to retain students and families remain a priority, with initiatives designed to deepen our community connections and support our students’ long-term success.

The Road Ahead: Focused on Growth and Improvement

While the results are encouraging, we acknowledge that there is much work to be done. Our commitment to the mission of “Wisdom Accelerated, Empowerment is Our Standard, and Love Centers Our Community” drives us to reflect on our progress and look ahead to further improvement. We continue to refine our instructional practices, bolster our support systems, and prioritize the well-being and academic achievement of every student at Brilla.

As we move forward, we are excited to deepen our engagement with families and foster stronger partnerships in support of our students. Together, we will ensure that every child has the opportunity to succeed academically and thrive as part of the Brilla community.

Thank you for your continued support as we work together to create a brighter future for all Brilla students.
