Dear Brilla Families, Friends, and Staff,
This November, I am filled with gratitude and admiration for the incredible events that unfolded throughout the Autumn across our Brilla schools. This season has been one of inspiration, connection, and a shared commitment to academic excellence and mission. We’re excited to share some of the highlights that have left a lasting impression on our students, families, and school community.
One of October’s most profound moments was Cardinal Timothy Dolan’s visit to our El Camino afterschool program at Brilla Pax and Brilla Caritas on October 9. Cardinal Dolan’s presence brought immense joy to our students and staff, leaving a lasting spiritual and emotional impact. The Cardinal spent time with El Camino disciples, visiting their classrooms, listening to their questions with warmth and sincerity, and offering thoughtful responses that were both encouraging and enlightening.
In his remarks, Cardinal Dolan spoke highly of our dedicated Seton Teaching Fellows, who serve as teachers, mentors, and role models for our children. His words affirmed the transformative impact our fellows have on our students, helping them grow not only academically but also spiritually and morally. Accompanying Cardinal Dolan were Bishop Edmund Whalen and several esteemed priests and religious members who shared in this celebration.
We were also honored to host a visit from the distinguished members of the Seton Board. The board members toured our schools, observing our classrooms and meeting with our talented educators.
They left deeply impressed by the level of academic excellence and the unique “Brilla sauce” that defines our schools. It was a moment of pride for our entire community to see our rigorous academics, our teachers’ dedication, and our students’ eagerness to learn being recognized by such esteemed visitors.
Their observations reaffirmed what we already knew—that Brilla is a place of exceptional learning and development. Moments like these remind us of the impact we have on the lives of our students and their families, and we remain committed to nurturing this positive and dynamic environment.
As we look ahead to the Thanksgiving season, we are thrilled to announce the success of this year’s Give Brilla Families a Thanksgiving Dinner campaign. Through the generous contributions of our board, staff, and friends of Brilla, we have exceeded our ambitious $9,000 goal, ensuring at least 90 Brilla families can enjoy a nourishing holiday meal. This campaign reflects our steadfast commitment to community, compassion, and solidarity.
Our Thanksgiving tradition is not only about providing a meal; the campus-based food & toy drive component empowers our students and families to make a difference in the lives of others. For many families who experience financial challenges and food insecurity, this support means so much. We are grateful for everyone who contributed to this cause, reminding us all of the importance of giving back.
There are so many exciting things happening across Brilla, and we are so proud to have each of you as part of this journey. The events of October were a beautiful reminder of our shared values—mission, family, and academic excellence. We are truly blessed to have a community that supports and uplifts one another.
