Cherished families, dedicated staff, and supportive friends,
As we wrap up our fourth full week of school, I couldn’t be more proud of what we’ve accomplished together. On August 19, we welcomed nearly 2,000 children into our classrooms—the largest number in Brilla’s history. We celebrated exciting milestones with the opening of 7th grade at Brilla Veritas Middle and 4th grade at both Brilla Caritas Elementary and Brilla Pax Elementary. This year also marks the 12th anniversary of our flagship school, Brilla College Prep Elementary. Thanks to our amazing families, we are on track to meet our Network attendance goals of 95%!

In our shared commitment to providing an exceptional learning experience for every child, I am overjoyed to celebrate the remarkable achievements of our students, families, and staff from the 2024 New York State Exams. These accomplishments reflect the hard work and dedication of our entire community:
- For the first time, Brilla Caritas Elementary and Brilla Pax Elementary students in the North Bronx took part in the state exams, marking a major milestone in their educational journey.
- After three years, Brilla Public Charter Schools students exceeded the state’s performance in math, a testament to their perseverance and growth.
- Despite a statewide and citywide decline in ELA scores, Brilla students made strides, showing slight gains in proficiency.
- We proudly recorded the highest percentage of multilingual learners achieving proficiency in ELA in Brilla’s history, a testament to the strength and resilience of our diverse community.
- Students with disabilities reached their best-ever math proficiency rates, an inspiring example of their determination and success.

These successes belong to our students and families just as much as they belong to our organization, and they demonstrate the power of collaboration, support, and belief in the potential of every child. There is so much to celebrate, Brilla! These achievements reflect our collective commitment to Brilla’s mission:
Brilla Public Charter Schools, K-8 schools in the classical tradition, help students to grow intellectually, socially, and physically into young men and women of good character and spirit, and to be prepared for excellence in high school, college, and beyond.
Looking ahead, we remain fully committed to preparing your children for success now and in the future.
With that in mind, we’re thrilled to announce our upcoming Brilla Schools Community Celebration! We hope you can join us at one of our two locations:
- South Bronx: 413 E 144th St, Bronx, NY 10454
- North Bronx: 2336 Andrews Ave, Bronx, NY 10468

We can’t wait to celebrate with you through games, face painting, bouncy houses, and more! Last year over 30 community partners closed down their blocks and celebrated with our families! This year we will be joined by partners like NYPL, Bronx Community College, Literacy Partners, Bronx Works, Air NYC, and many more. This celebration is just the start as we head full speed into the 2024-25 school year, ready to work, learn, and grow together.
Con cariño,
